Sleep at 6 Weeks

Kylie seems to be following in Cam's footsteps with her sleep. She doesn't sleep quite as long as he did at this point, but like him, she seems to prefer sleeping at home. A few weeks ago we moved her into her own room in her Rock N Play sleeper because she is such a noisy sleeper. Within days, we tried out her crib and she did just as well in it, so we made the transition. The first night we put her in her crib, she ended up getting all the way on her side. She does this while playing on her activity mat too. I have a feeling she's going to be a mover.

The other way that she is like Camden is that at least for now, she seems to like to be put down to sleep. Yesterday at church she napped for about an hour, but then woke up and would not go back to sleep. For the past few days when we are at home, I have swaddled her up, put her in her crib, she cries for a couple minutes and then falls asleep. This is super nice when we are at home, but proves to be a little tricky when we are out and about and she is sleepy, but fights it.

She sleeps best when she is swaddled, but the problem is that she is already breaking out of it regularly. She just seems to love to keep her hands up by her face.

We have resorted to using the "bat wing" technique where you use an extra blanket on the inside to help hold her arms down. So far this has been successful in keeping her swaddled. During the day she sleeps for about 2-4 hour stretches and at night anywhere from 3-6 hour stretches. Not to bad for a 6 week old baby. The doctor said that 1 out of 2 babies are sleeping through the night at 2 months old. Camden was, so the odds are stacked against us. Here's to busting the odds and going 2 for 2 by the time she's 2 months old!
